Case Study: Sunfyre - “Promise Me” Album Art

Role

Designer

For Sunfyre’s single Promise Me, I designed the official album artwork, blending retrowave aesthetics with modern portrait design. The goal was to capture the song’s emotional depth while maintaining a strong visual identity for the artist’s branding. Using Photoshop, I crafted a dual-concept composition—one side featuring a neon-lit cyberpunk synthwave/retrowave landscape with a glowing sun, and the other, a stylized, high-contrast portrait. The contrasting elements symbolize nostalgia and introspection, mirroring the song’s themes.

The design process involved experimenting with color grading, grain textures, and halftone effects to create a vintage, VHS-inspired feel. Careful attention was given to typography, ensuring the script-style "Promise Me" text seamlessly integrated into the scene. Additionally, I designed the YouTube thumbnail which also reflects this detail. The album artwork was adapted across various streaming platforms and promotional materials, ensuring consistency in Sunfyre’s visual identity. The final design resonated with both the artist and their audience, enhancing the single’s impact.
